About San Juan County Washington
San Juan County, Washington was established as a part of Washington Territory in 1873. The County consists of 176 named islands and reefs (up to 743 at low tides). San Juan County, with more than 408 miles of rocky and sandy waterfront, boasts more shoreline than any other county in the nation. Island grown businesses include food production, single-family home construction, commercial fishing, forest management, real estate sales and investment. Real estate investing drives a large segment of the local economy. San Juan County Washington is bounded by Canada and the Straight of Juan de Fuca to the north, Skagit County and Whatcom County on the east, Island County and Jefferson County on the south and the Pacific Ocean to the west.
